Racers prepare for climb at Ha Noi vertical run

The Ha Noi Vertical Run, Viet Nam's highest stair climbing race, will step off on April 18 at Landmark 72, Viet Nam's tallest building.

HA NOI (VNS) — The Ha Noi Vertical Run, Viet Nam's highest stair climbing race, will step off on April 18 at Landmark 72, Viet Nam's tallest building.

"We are pleased to be bringing the race back to Viet Nam and look forward to continuing to organise the Ha Noi Vertical Run next year and into the future," said David Shin of Sporting Republic of the organisers.

"The buzz around the race is felt within the sporting community," said Shin. "We are anticipating a sell-out and encourage runners to sign up now so they don't miss the chance to be a part of the incredible celebration."

The organisers aim to attract 500 participants for the race. They will face the tough challenge of climbing 350 metres high, 72 floors or 1,914 steps if they want to cross the finish line which boasts one of the best views the capital city offers.

Stair climbing – called a "vertical race" in its nascence in the ‘70s –has grown into a global sport with clubs spanning the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. Professional stair climbing athletes train year-round to be the first to reach the top of the world's tallest buildings.

Online registration has already started. Participation fees range between US$15.00-20.00 per person. For more information about the event, visit the event website: www.runhanoi.com. — VNS
