HA NOI (VNS) — Rapping the News of VietnamPlus won the top award in the Digital First category of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA).
This special category honours the news publisher that most creatively engages the young through mobile telephones, tablets and other digital devices.
VietnamPlus, an online newspaper of Vietnam News Agency, launched their rap news broadcast on November 12 last year in celebration of the newspaper's fifth anniversary.
The news, also known as RapNewsPlus, appears twice a week, brings news and messages through rap to many young viewers. The first edition received a record one million views in only 48 hours.

RapNewsPlus has been featured in local and international media such as BBC, The Guardian, VOA and Deutsche Welle.
The WAN-IFRA also presented awards in other categories. The Norwegian local media group Amedia was named World Young Reader News Publisher of the Year for putting young people at the heart of its overall readership strategy.
Mindener Tageblatt from Germany won A Great Help for Azubify, a multiplatform set of tools to help companies and youth connect about apprenticeships.
And Volksblad of South Africa took the Brand award for SkoolBLUES, an interactive comic strip for teenagers.
The awards will be presented at the WAN-IFRA World Young Reader Summit and Ideathon on November 24-26 in Bali, Indonesia. It is a free event open to all news publishers, with priority given to WAN-IFRA members and past prize winners. — VNS
