HCM CITY (VNS) — Viet Nam Television, Miss World Organisation, BHD Co. Ltd and model management company, Elite Vietnam, have announced their plan to produce the reality television show Miss World Viet Nam – Duong Toi Vuong Mien (Road to the Crown).
This is the first-ever reality TV show in Viet Nam that aims to find and train national representatives to compete in international pageants.
"Cameras will be used 24/7 and the show will be broadcast daily on TV, bringing close-up views of training of Vietnamese beauties to reach the precious crown," a press release said.
The qualifying round is scheduled for September 20 in Ha Noi and September 21 in HCM City.
Entrants must have Vietnamese nationality and be between 18 and 25 years old, with a height above 1.65m. They also must not have had any aesthetic or transgender surgery.
Winners of the round will gather at the Beauty Castle where they will live and take a training course with leading Vietnamese and international experts.
Organisers said contestants would be guided in such training programmes as physical beauty, costume selection, communication skills, behaviour and participation in charity activities.
There will be a live show every week with different themes.
The winner of the show will receive a VND100 million (US$4,800) prize and the opportunity to represent Viet Nam at the Miss World pageant.
Two runners-up will receive VND50 million and VND30 million in cash and represent the country at the Miss International and Miss Supranational pageants, respectively.
The programme will have 75 episodes and broadcast every day from late September on the VTV6 channel.
Ta Bich Loan, a manager of VTV6, said that the winners are expected to be the choice of a great majority of Vietnamese.
"I believe that the beauty and brainpower of Vietnamese women can receive the admiration of the international audience if they have been chosen and trained carefully," Nguyen Thi Thuy Nga, general director of Elite Viet Nam, the franchise holder of Miss World Viet Nam, said. — VNS
