HCM CITY (VNS) — Seven national records were broken on the last day of the National Finswimming Championships at Phu Tho Swimming Club in HCM City yesterday.
Le Thi Thu beat the girls' U17 50m sprint's old record of 17.68sec with a time of 17.49.
Duong Minh Tri set a new boys' record in 800m with a time of 6:27.98, handidly beating the old record of 6:33.14.
After four days of competition, the HCM City team took the lead with 13 golds, 15 silvers and seven bronzes. National Defence Sports Centre 5 came in second with 12 golds, six silvers and two bronzes. The third place went to Ha Noi with nine golds, nine silvers and 13 bronzes.
The event attracted 140 swimmers from 19 teams nationwide, competing for 32 sets of medals.
The National Swimming Championships will begin today with the participation of 215 athletes from 29 teams nationwide, fighting for 40 sets of medals. — VNS
