HA NOI (VNS)— Dak Lak and HCM City each set new records on day five of the National Youth Shooting Championships in Ha Noi yesterday.
Dak Lak took out the gold medal in the women's 10m running target mix team event with a score of 993 points.
The result surpassed the previous record of 960 points set by a senior teammate in 2009. It is the eighth record to be smashed at this year's tournament.
Hosts Ha Noi came in second, followed by Military.
In the individual category, Nguyen Thi Hoan of the capital city took the gold. It is her second title following her win in the women's 10-metre running target individual event on Wednesday.
Dak Lak's Le Thi Chung ranked second, with Hanoian Le Thi My Linh placing at third.
HCM City's men's squad later notched a record in the 25m standard pistol event with 1,661 points, 14 points smashing the 2012 record by 14 points. Hosts Ha Noi claimed silver while Ministry of Public Security came in third.
Phan Minh Chuyen earned the fourth gold medal for HCM City in the individual pool. Hoang Minh Phung of Ministry of Public Security and Bui Hong Phong, Chuyen's teammate, were runners-up.
The fifth gold of the City team went to Pham Thi Chau, who scored 559 points in the women's 50m 3-position individual event.
Duong Thi Luyen of the hosts and Tran Thi Minh Trang from Quang Ninh were second and third, respectively.
Ha Noi, however, triumphed in the team event with 1,646 points, while Quang Ninh and Thanh Hoa followed close behind.
The outstanding performance yesterday helped HCM City jump to second place in the medal tally with six gold medals. Ha Noi comfortably held onto the leading spot with 10 titles.
Hai Duong came in third earning five wins. — VNS
