HA NOI (VNS) — Rockstorm 2014 is returning to rock the whole country with its spectacular concerts in seven cities over the next two months.

With a new name, Rockstorm 7 – Dong A Spirit will commence in the stadium in the northern Hai Phong port city next Saturday. The show will feature four bands, namely Buc Tuong (The Wall), Microwave and PAK, as well as the emerging Morning Waits.

"Buc Tuong is preparing to create a storm in this much-expected series of rock nights," the band's head, singer and musician Tran Lap told a press conference in Ha Noi yesterday.

This is the fourth year that noted musician Quoc Trung has directed the show.

"We would like to use a historic story that tells of the proud spirit of the Tran dynasty (AD1225 - 1400) as the thread that will run through the show, to relive the independent, self-reliant and self-strengthening spirit as well as address the patriotism in the hearts of the Vietnamese people," Trung said, about the idea behind the show's title.

"With this message, I am facing a lot of pressure to rouse and transmit the ‘spirit' into music as well as into each band." After Hai Phong, the rock journey will hold live shows in Hue (December 6), Da Nang (December 13) and Bien Hoa (December 20), as well as HCM City (December 27), Can Tho (January 3, 2015) and Ha Noi (January 10).

Tickets, costing VND40,000 (US$1.9) each, are available at all venues. All proceeds will be donated to Operation Smile Viet Nam and Funds for Underprivileged Students in all localities where Rockstorm performs.

Rockstorm has donated nearly VND6 billion to these charity organisations during the past three years. — VNS
