HA NOI — Actress Minh Hang was crowned winner of Dancing with the Stars 2012 on Sunday night in Ha Noi.

Hang and partner Atanas Malamov won over two couples, Truong Nam Thanh and Elena Hristoda Hadihristova and Anh Thu and Teodo Mitkov Zlatazev, in the final in the categories of Favoured Dance and Freestyle.

The winning couple performed their "favoured" rumba, which the jury panel gave the highest scores. In the freestyle, Hang evoked Cleopatra, dancing in Egyptian style on a stage decorated as the palace of the queen, which also trumped the other finalists.

The couple then gained the highest votes from the audience with 64 per cent.

Hang received a trophy and cash prize of VND150 million (US$7,500) along with several product coupons worth many millions of dong. The winning dancers were also recognised as the Favourite Performer of the contest.

The second prize of VND120 million ($6,000) went to Thanh and Hadihristova and third of VND100 million ($5,000) to Thu and Zlatazev.

All finalists also receive a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 tablet computer.

Other recognitions announced at the final ceremony were King of Standard Dance, Queen of Latin Dance, Impressive Performer and Passionate-and-Natural Performer.

The Vietnamese version of Dancing with the Stars was brought by the Cat Tien Sa Company from the original British edition in 2010. — VNS
