HA NOI (VNS)– Viet Nam's Sai Gon Heat yesterday defeated Westports Dragon of Malaysia 89-78 to end a miserable losing streak in their last round match of the ASEAN Basketball League at Tan Binh Stadium, HCM City.
David Palmer scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Justin Howard finished with 27 points and 19 rebounds. Chris Sumalinog added 10 points for Heat, who had to play without regular starter Jai Reyes due to a foot injury.
It was a rare win for the Vietnamese side who had suffered 17 losses in a row previously.
Overall, Heat finished with four wins and 18 defeats, ranking bottom of the league which featured five other teams from Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia. – VNS
