Saigon Heat beat Mono Vampire

HA NOI (VNS) — Saigon Heat pocketed their second straight victory after a 74-70 win over Mono Vampire at the Chulalongkorn University Gym in Bangkok on December 20.

Mono Vampire played inspired basketball in the first half, but they slowly lost steam in the second half. Anthony McClain scored to cut Saigon Heat's lead down to a single point, 68-67, with 1.21sec left in the contest. However, David Arnold replied with a corner jumper to extend it to three points.

The home team rushed their next two offensive sets and the visiting team made them pay by making their free throws.

Although he was saddled with four personal fouls, Arnold still led Saigon with 24 points, while William Creekmore added 18 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals as he was once again named the Best Player of the game.

Lenny Daniel chipped in with 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Moses Morgan finished with 15 markers.

Saigon Heat's previous win was also over Mono Vampire, 90-79, on their home turf on December 18.

Both teams will now enjoy the Christmas break till Mono Vampire return to action on January 3 against Singapore Slingers.

Saigon Heat continue their road trip in 2016, as they visit the Pilipinas MX3 Kings on January 6 and the Westports Malaysia Dragons on January 9. — VNS
