HA NOI (VNS) – Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel arrived in Viet Nam this morning at the invitation of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV).
Schmeichel, a United club ambassador, will attend the signing of a co-operative agreement between his club and BIDV this afternoon.
At 8pm, he will fly to HCM City ahead of a meeting with fans tomorrow.
Schmeichel, 49, played in goal for many different clubs during a distinguished career. He played for Manchester United from 1991 to 1999, and is often cited as the most successful goalkeeper in the club's history.
Schmeichel was voted the World's Best Goalkeeper in 1992 and 1993. He was later selected as one of the 10 best keepers of the 20th century by the International Federation of Football History&Statistics. – VNS
