Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA)'s coach Nguyen Huu Thang has been fined VND5 million (US$238) and received a two-match suspension for shouting abuse at referees during a match against Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) in June 3.
The Viet Nam Football Federation's Discipline Department ruled that coach Thang had broken regulations by shouting abuse at referees after they failed to award a penalty for SLNA during the V-League match.
SLNA footballer Tran Son Ha was fined VND10 million ($476) and was slapped with a three-match suspension for violently tackling a HAGL player.
However, the Discipline Department admitted that the referees were wrong in ruling that HAGL goalkeeper Bassey Akpan did not foul SLNA striker Hughton Hector in the penalty area during the match. — VNS
