HA NOI (VNS) — Manzi is presenting the weird and wonderful world of Plonk&Replonk in an exhibition titled Smile! Temporary Art.
Well-known in their homeland of Switzerland and neighbouring France as Plonk&Replonk, artist-brother duo Hubert and Jacques Froidevaux explore the endless possible uses of humour in various art forms: objects, sculptures, installations, light boxes, postcards and graphic prints. Characterised by a mix of black humour and wicked wit that borders on the sarcastic and mischievous, Plonk&Replonk deal with internationally relevant topics such as environment, globalisation, education and consumerism with both criticality and lightheartedness.
By turning ordinary objects, habits and events upside-down, Plonk&Replonk ask us to look at reality in another.
The free exhibition will open at 6.30pm today and run until April 27 at Manzi Art Space, 14 Phan Huy Ich Street. — VNS
