HA NOI (VNS) — Rising running star Nguyen Thi Huyen will be trained in Russia following her recent victories, the National Sports Administration has announced.
Huyen of Nam Dinh won two gold medals in the women's 400m race at the 2015 Asian Grand Prix in Thailand in late June. She also won three gold medals for Viet Nam at the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Singapore, booking two official berths for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Meanwhile, Quach Cong Lich will be sent to the US for training.
Lich, of Thanh Hoa, won a gold medal in the men's 400m race at the 2015 Asian Grand Prix in Thailand. He clocked 45.99sec, breaking his own national record of 46.02s and beat the SEA Games' record of 46.00s held by Thailand's Sukkaew Kunanon.
A the Singapore Games, he also brought home a silver medal during the same race.
In the US, Lich will practise with his sister, Asian Games silver medallist Quach Thi Lan.
As planned, Huyen, Lich and Lan will leave for their training in early August. — VNS
