HA NOI (VNS) — A new stamp praising the ASEAN community was released here yesterday alongside releases by the nine other ASEAN members.
Themed "Greeting the ASEAN Community", the stamp features the 10 flags of the ASEAN's member nations harmoniously blended in the shape of a five-petal flower set against the background of yellow rice flowers, symbolising the group's unity and solidarity in diversity and its mission to co-operate in developing together.
The stamp was designed by Vietnamese painters Vu Kim Lien and Nguyen Du, both of whom work at the Vietnam Post Corporation.
The stamp was the winning entry in a design contest for the community's common stamp, which attracted hundreds of entries from all 10 nations.
The ASEAN Community is scheduled to be established on December 31, 2015. The stamp issuance is a move in support of the event. — VNS
