dance-competition show So You Think You Can Dance.
HCM CITY (VNS)— Lam Vinh Hai, a street jazz dancer, was named as Viet Nam's favourite dancer on Saturday at the awards ceremony for the first season of the Vietnamese version of the American TV dance-competition show So You Think You Can Dance.
Hai received 25,130 votes from the audience to beat 19 finalists during the final round. The competition had 18 live shows, beginning on September 15.
He became popular with young people as the leader of the MTE dance group, established by singer My Tam in 2008. He has also taken part in several music videos of the singer.
Contemporary dancer Lam To Nhu, 17, and hip-hop dancer Quang Dang, 23, were the runners-up.
The competition, organised by HCM City Television and the Dong Tay Promotion Company, attracted thousands of Vietnamese professional dancers and contestants aged 16-30 who performed in auditions that were held beginning in July. — VNS
