Viet Nam are participating in the fourth ASEAN School Games themed "Spirit, Friendship and Excellence" that kicked off in the Indonesian province of East Java.

The eight-day event, which sees the participation of nearly 1,400 athletes and officials in 11 events, will run until Friday.

The hosts have set a target of bagging 36 gold medals compared to the 21 they won at the same event in Singapore last year, where Thailand came out on top, followed by Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.-VNS
