HCM CITY (VNS) — The Innovative Sweden Exhibition continues its international tour of Asia in Viet Nam, where it opened at the main campus of Hoa Sen University here yesterday.

The three-week event celebrates 45 years of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Sweden. It showcases cutting-edge innovations which 20 young start-up companies have developed in the fields of information and communications technology, life science, clean technology and gaming.

"From the temperature scale by Celsius in 1741 to Skype in 2003, throughout its history, Sweden has long been considered a nation that embeds innovations. Our curiosity, creativity, and desire for change have made us innovators," said Annika Rembe, director-general of the Swedish Institute, the event organiser.

"Through Innovative Sweden, we want to share these experiences with Viet Nam to cultivate a culture of creativity here and to facilitate a mutual exchange of solutions and innovations for the future," Rembe added.

The exhibit, which the Swedish Institute organised, has been shown in the US, Canada, Brazil and China, as well as Germany, Japan, Korea and Indonesia.

Complementing the exhibit is an extensive programme consisting of seminars, creative workshops and cultural events, including a Swedish film festival, a LunchBeat (disco lunch), a Swedish gaming competition and the 2014 European Music Festival, where Swedish singer Kristin Amparo will be performing.

The exhibit is open to the public daily from 8am to 5pm at Hoa Sen University, 93 Cao Thang, District 3. — VNS
