Viet Nam's national table tennis team will take part in the Southeast
Asian Olympic qualification tournament this weekend in Bangkok,
Thailand.
HA NOI – Viet Nam's national table tennis team will take part in the Southeast Asian Olympic qualification tournament this weekend in Bangkok, Thailand.
The team comprises of Tran Tuan Quynh (world no. 244), Hoang My Trang (world no. 252), Dinh Quang Linh (world no. 302) and Nguyen Thi Viet Linh (world no.433).
The players are looking to secure a spot at the London Olympics this summer.
According to coach Le Xuan Phong, the team features the country's top players, after two-time Olympian Doan Kien Quoc withdrew from the national team.
Phong added they would face tough rivals from Singapore, including Gao Ning (world no. 17) and Li Hu (world no. 26), who have both already qualified for this year's Games.
"At this time, we do not know what team Singapore will field, but they have a lot of depth. As well as Gao Ning and Li Hu, they also have Yang Zi (world no. 48) and Zhan Tian (world no. 68)." – VNS
