As many as 11 artists who perform and teach the art of chau van (ritual)
singing and dancing have been awarded "Folk Artisan" title by the Viet
Nam Folk Arts and Literature Association.
Researchers have been working to find a way to protect and preserve authentic hau dong, a medium ritual used in the northern religion of Dao Mau, which worships the Vietnamese deity of Mother Goddess.
Heritage Space will present an exhibition showcasing works by artist Vu
Thanh Nghi, whose work has been infuenced by the Mother Goddess religion
and its ethereality.
Mother Goddess worshippers, as well as those curious about the practice,
can enjoy performances dedicated to the deities at a cultural festival
in the capital next month.
