Nguyen Thi Hai and Nguyen Thanh Trung will compete today in the London Paralympics. The Nghe An Province-born Hai will compete in the women''s discus throw F57/58 event among 17 other competitors.
Of the three Vietnamese athletes competing at the
Paralympics in London yesterday, power-lifter Nguyen Thi Hong finished
with the best result – fourth in the women''s under 40kg event.
Vo Thanh Tung will be the first Vietnamese athlete competing at the London Paralympics today. Tung will take part in the men''s 50m freestyle-S5, one of four events he hopes to claim a medal in at the London Games.
Cao Ngoc Hung will be Viet Nam''s flag bearer at the opening ceremony of today''s London Paralympics in London.The event has drawn more than 4,200 athletes from 165 countries and territories, who will take part in 20 sports.
Vietnamese athletes with disabilities are ready for
the London Paralympics Games, to be held in London, England, from August
29 to September 9, and aim to bring home at least one medal.
Disabled Vietnamese athletes will be awarded prize
money by sponsors Thai Son Nam Trading Company and T&T Corporation
if they win medals at the London Paralympics.
