Archaeologists
have just announced that the bronze drum found at a construction site in
Baucau, in the east of Timor-Leste, was typical of the Dong Son civilisation
(1,000BC-100AD).
Archaeologists yesterday made public numerous artefacts they had found
during the latest excavation off the Truong Sa, Nam Yet, Phan Vinh and
Son Ca islands in Khanh Hoa Province.
An ancient stele monument, recently excavated in Thanh Hoai Village in
the northern province of Bac Ninh''s Thuan Thanh District, is believed
the oldest ever found in the country.
Traces of a huge water supply system and parallel
ground wall from the time of the Ly dynasty have been unearthed at the
former Thang Long Imperial Citadel in downtown Ha Noi, archaeologists
have announced.
A Cham tower complex has been found in Hoa Vang
District after a three-month excavation, including 629 objects dating
from the 10th-14th centuries, archaeologists from the National Museum of
Vietnamese History announced yesterday.
Archaeologists from the Viet Nam Archaeological
Institute and Tuyen Quang Museum unearthed several relics in Son Duong
district of Tuyen Quang province in an excavation early this year, said
Ly Manh Thang, deputy director of the provincial museum.
Traces of prehistoric man have been found at the Na Mo Cave in the northern province of Bac Kan. Members
of the Viet Nam Archaeological Institute and the Bac Kan Museum have
been excavating the area for possible prehistoric remains since early
June.
A team of Australian and Vietnamese archaeologists
discovered a 3,500 year old man-made toilet believed to be the earliest
such device in southern Viet Nam.
