A stately ceremony to celebrate the great poet
Nguyen Du''s 250th birth anniversary was held in his birth place, the
central province of Ha Tinh on Saturday, with State and Party leaders,
and many other provincial officials in attendance.
Viet Nam Fine Arts Museum is showing a collection of watercolour
sketches to mark the 105th birth anniversary of master artist Tran Van
Can (1910-2015).
A set of special stamps marking the 100th birth anniversary of General
Nguyen Chi Thanh (1914-2014) was issued in the central province of Thua
Thien-Hue on Tuesday.
Giang Sinh (The Birth of Jesus), one of the most famous works by
renowned artist Nguyen Gia Tri, has suffered considerable wear and tear
and needs to be restored.
Activities to celebrate the 2,557th anniversary of Buddha''s birth have
been held around the country, displaying what officials call a grand
harmonisation between religion and society.
"People always think of eternal beauty and look for
it endlessly. One day if the world ends, mushrooms will still be alive
and growing rapidly. They seem to be immortal and their own
eternal beauty," said Cong Tri.
