On Sunday, the Friends of Vietnam Heritage (FVH) will organise an
excursion to Hung King Temple in Phu Tho Province – one of the most
important and sacred places in the country.
An exhibition in the capital will feature a 100
photographs of communal houses throughout the north which will showcase
the beauty of these structures as well as the threats these face with
the advent of modernity.
Authorities in the central province of Quang Nam
have decided to spend VND1.85 billion or US$87,700 on urgent restoration
of 12 historical sites in the province this year.
The communal house in Viet Nam is traditionally the soul of the
community, thus thoughtful preservation of these old houses is essential
to keeping traditional cultural values alive and well.
A nha dai or communal house of ethnic groups living
at the Cat Tien National Park has opened its doors to welcome tourists
visiting the park in Ta Lai Commune, Tan Phu District in the southern
province of Dong Nai.
