An antiquities exhibition featuring the lotus flower
opened yesterday at the Viet Nam National Museum of History in Ha Noi,
introducing local and international visitors to the beauty and
significance of the lotus in Vietnamese culture.
The UNESCO Club on the Research and Preservation of
the Value of National Antiquities on Saturday handed out more than 100
antiques to the local museum.
As many as 60 antiquities, dating from the 14th through 19th centuries,
were donated to the central city''s museum following a donation programme
to mark Viet Nam''s Heritage Day yesterday.
A range of exciting periods in Vietnamese history
are reflected in a new exhibition of antiquities at Nam Dinh Museum,
under the theme of Quintessence of Antiquities in the Red River Delta.
The dragon has been a long time symbol of loyalty and power in
Vietnamese culture and spiritual life. The sacred creature deeply
influences people''s activities, particularly royalty of the past.
