Nguyen Thanh Tam claimed the fourth stage of the Trans-Viet cycling tournament while Huynh Mai Duy maintained his status as tour leader yesterday.

Tam of Domesco Dong Thap 1 made a perfect sprint in the last 100m of the 105km stage from Phan Rang-Thap Cham City to Nha Trang City, clocking 2:38.27.

Duy of HCM City received strong support from his teammates and finished within the first bunch. His total time of 11:54.32 kept him at the top spot of the tournament, also called the National Defence Cup. Trinh Duc Tam of ADC-Vinh Long Television came in second 31 seconds later and Le Ngoc Son of Domesco Dong Thap 1 came in third with 11:54.65.

HCM City maintained its status as the leading team with 35:45.12, followed by Domesco Dong Thap 1 and ADC-Vinh Long Television.

Today, the cyclists will compete in the 122km seventh stage from Quang Ngai to Da Nang. — VNS
