HA NOI (VNS)  — Gonzalo Damian Marronkle scored two goals in Ha Noi T&T's 5-0 win over Hai Phong in the second semi-final of the National Cup yesterday at Hang Day Stadium in Ha Noi.

He just needed three minutes to find the net with a spectacular shot from 40m.

The striker left two Hai Phong defenders behind to complete his double in the 41st minute with a guided shot into the corner.

Prior to the match experts were predicting a close fought tie, with both sides missing key players.

Hoang Vu Samson of T&T returned home to Nigeria due to disease, while Hai Phong's top striker Andre Diego Fagan was out injured.

The hosts started strongly with Marronkle and Nguyen Van Quyet up front, but Hai Phong relied to heavily on Errol Anthony Steven up front, who had few chances during the game.

It was a nightmare for goalie Dinh Xuan Viet, who contrived to score an own goal following a silly mistake after 20 minutes.

Viet missed the ball from a corner kick but managed to knock it back into his own net, making it 3-0.

Quyet, after creating several chances for his teammates, scored on 75 minutes after breaking the offside trap and dinking it over Viet.

National U23 midfielder Do Duy Manh scored the fourth goal just three minutes later with a low shot to the left corner.

It was nearly 6-0 in the added time when Quyet left goalie Viet behind, only to have his shot blocked by a defender.

The loss leaves Hai Phong in third position with a bonus of VND200 million (US$9,100).

T&T will meet Becamex Binh Duong in the final.

Binh Duong beat Dong Tam Long An 4-3 away in the other semi-final.

Abass scored a hattrick and Le Tan Tai added another for Binh Duong to overcome Phan Van Tai Em's double and Rafael dos Santos Lima's 50th minute goal.

The date of the final has not yet been confirmed.

In the V.League, Quang Ninh Coal trounced Hoang Anh Gia Lai 3-0 in the late match.

Mac Hong Quan bagged a double after the opener by Vu Minh Tuan in the 16th minute. HAGL goalkeeper Bui Minh Tuan was sent off just 15 minutes after the break, while Van Tien also saw red after pulling back striker Nguyen Quang Hai's in the penalty area.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai's 11th defeat leaves them bottom of the table with only 13 points after 19 matches. They have seven matches left to avoid relegation.
