HA NOI — Singer Tan Nhan has announced that her concert ‘The Return’ will be held on March 16, instead of February 23 as initially planned.

The change was necessary because the venue of the concert, the Cultural Friendship Palace, has been in use since February 20 to serve the Trump-Kim Summit, which will take place on February 28.

The concert will review the career of the singer, famous for folk and revolutionary songs. She also works as a lecturer at the Viet Nam National Academy of Music (VNAM). This is the first time she has organised her own concert. She previously held a concert in co-operation with her husband, Nguyen Tuan Anh, a singer and voice trainer at the VNAM.

In this concert, Nhan will perform songs about the homeland, songs that helped her win the Sao Mai singing contest and songs of xam (blind buskers’ songs), chau van (spiritual music) and quan ho (love duets).

Nhan and her team started preparing the stage for the concert on February 19. Now, all of the props and equipment have been removed.

Nhan said she was happy to postpone the concert because she is excited for the summit, like many other Vietnamese people.

“I think it’s a rare chance for Viet Nam to promote its image to the world,” she said. “I don’t think that is a trouble for me. I feel proud when the nation hosts such a big event.”

Producer of the concert, Nguyen Tuan Anh, said all the tickets are eligible for entrance on March 16. Audience members who have bought tickets already but cannot attend the concert on that day will be refunded. — VNS
