HA NOI (VNS) –Defender Vo Nhat Tan of Dong Tam Long An club has won the first-ever Fair Play prize in Vietnamese football for 2012.
Tan overcame two weighty candidates, FIFA referee Vo Minh Tri and coach Nguyen Huu Thang of Song Lam Nghe An, to win the prize and take home VND30,000 million (US$1,500).
Tan won the jury's appreciation for denouncing match fixing before a game between his team and Tay Ninh FC. Tay Ninh FC's Nguyen Thanh Trung had called Tan to suggest that the latter arranges for Dong Tam to fail in the match. After he was exposed, Trung was banned from playing football for five years.- VNS
