HA NOI (VNS)  — A series of the popular TEDx talks will run this entire week in Ha Noi, beginning today at 6pm.

TEDx (Technology – Entertainment – Design) is a programme of global conferences run by the Sapling Foundation with the slogan "Ideas Worth Spreading".

They arrange inspirational thinkers and doers around the world to speak on topics of expertise and experience.

TEDx Hanoi is an independently organised chapter, done with the purpose of offering local communities, organisations and individuals a chance to experience the popular global TEDx programme.

The event, which lasts from August 8 to 16, offers young Vietnamese opportunities to go to art exhibitions, talks and participate in a networking night.

This summer series marks the first time TEDx has been organised in Viet Nam. The chapter's stated mission is to convey the importance of new ideas and to inspire young Vietnamese with stories from renowned speakers successful in various fields.

The event's commencement ceremony took place on Saturday, with speeches by Vietnamese actors Tran Luc and Xuan Bac.

Luc shared personal stories about his success and failure in early life.

"To overcome failure, keep a firm belief in the positive side of life. No matter how much you might lose, your family and true friends will always stand by you. They are your motivation and inspiration to overcome failure and continue to pursue success."

Comedian Xuan Bac also shared his advice about what it takes to succeed.

"Do not let failure daunt you. To gain success, obviously you must experience failure. Things depend on your attitude and perspective towards life. If you encounter difficulties, be flexible and adaptable in order to overcome them."

Dang Minh Ngoc, founder of the TEDx Hanoi chapter said she hoped the series would help the young have a clearer orientation towards work and life, and together build a better community. — VNS
