HÀ NỘI – Tourists and locals in Hà Nội will soon be able to experience the Văn Miếu (Temple of Literature) night tour, set to officially launch in November.

Lê Xuân Kiêu, director of the Centre for Văn Miếu Quốc Tử Giám Cultural and Scientific Activities, said that the centre is experimenting with a project on the night tour at the site.

This unique experience programme has been completed and is in the final stages of preparation for official launch next month.

The Temple of Literature's night tour offers guests an entirely different experience than visiting the UNESCO heritage site during the day – it uses technology and lighting to illustrate, rather than the theatrical format employed by other tours.

The night tour aims to create a symphony of mysteriously sparkling light, traditional music, and quintessential values in Vietnamese educational history, enticing visitors to the Temple of Literature.

The night tour strives to raise awareness of the significance of Quốc Tử Giám, a national ancient monument as Việt Nam's oldest university.

Vietnamese educational principles are conveyed through monumental architectural works such as Khuê Văn Pavilion, Doctoral Stele Garden and Thiền Quang Well.

The programme presented to visitors includes Vietnamese stories and tales about schools, ancient academics, and the obstacles and challenges that each person must overcome to achieve success in education.

Khuê Văn Pavilion features Vietnamese traditional music performances.

The highlight of the tour is in the Thái Học Hall, where visitors can watch a 3D-mapping presentation on the theme Tinh Hoa Đạo Học (Essence of Education).

The entire Thái Học Hall is transformed by the lighting system and 3D-mapping technology, illustrating stories about the Temple of Literature as the first Vietnamese Imperial Academy.

"When using 3D Mapping on heritage architecture, the new technology certainly excites visitors. The tour provided some useful information, but it is essential to guide tourists through the experience for them to understand the story," Phùng Quang Thắng, vice president of the Việt Nam Travel Association, said.

The night tour of the Temple of Literature is the fourth night-tour location that Hà Nội has organised for domestic and foreign tourists, in addition to Hỏa Lò Prison Relic, Thăng Long Imperial Citadel, and Việt Nam Literature Museum.
