HA NOI (VNS) — Tennis player Ly Hoang Nam of Viet Nam won a berth in the semi-final round of the 25th Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup in Malaysia this morning.

Nam, who is seeded No. 4, defeated the No. 10 seed Wu Yibing of China 6-3, 6-4 during the men's singles event.

He will play against No. 6 seed Soon Woo-kwon of South Korea tomorrow. The Vietnamese has also advanced to the final of men's doubles.

Nam's pairing with Alberto Lim made them the No. 5 seed as they trounced top title candidates Soon Woo-kwon and Oh Chan-Yeong 7-5, 4-6, 5-10 at the International Tennis Federation Junior Championship's Grade 1.

Their rivals in the final will be No. 6 seeded pair Hao Wu and Yibing Wu, who beat No. 7 seeds Lloyd Harris and Brandon Laubser 6-4, 6-4. —VNS
