THÁI NGUYÊN - Thái Nguyên Province is focusing on developing its tourism, especially on building tourism products and making use of its natural advantages and culture.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thái Nguyên Province organised its tourism promotion conference as part of the HCM City Tourism Fair 2024 last week.

Nguyễn Ngọc Tuân, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thái Nguyên Province, said that the province has over 1,000 relics including one relic ranked at a special national level, 57 relics ranked at the national level and 237 relics ranked at the provincial level, along with nearly 300 craft villages and over 200 OCOP products.

This is a valuable resource for the province to develop various types of attractive tourism products to meet the needs of tourists.

Currently, to attract tourists, the province is focusing on building and developing four main tourism products including: cultural, spiritual, and historical tourism; ecotourism and resorts; community and rural tourism associated with tea culture; and MICE tourism, sports and adventurous cave exploration.

In its tourism development plan for 2021-2025 with a vision to 2030, Thái Nguyên province aims to build at least five more community tourism sites based on its tea culture by 2025.

So far, the provincial administration has recognised six community tourism sites, including two based on tea culture, which have drawn a large number of visitors. They have helped popularise the Thái Nguyên tea brand and local farm produce while generating higher and more sustainable income for rural residents.

In the first quarter of 2024, the number of tourists coming to the province reached over 1.1 million visitors.

Hà Văn Siêu, Deputy Director of the Việt Nam National Tourism Administration, said that Thái Nguyên tourism still facing many limitations in investment and development.

The provincial tourism products and services are lack competitiveness, and not commensurate with the region's tourism potential, Siêu added

Thái Nguyên Province needs to focus on developing tourism in a professional, modern and in-depth direction, connecting with neighbouring provinces to promotes its tourism. - VNS
