HA NOI (VNS) — Thai Son Nam FC of Viet Nam tied 3-3 with hosts Asian Scholars in their last round match at the AFF Futsal Club Championship on November 26 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Female defending champions Thai Son Nam were on a roll in their first three matches, scoring 13 goals in the process.

After some patient play, Do Thi Nguyen gave Thai Son Nam the lead in the 12 minute with a wonderful lob that beat Asian Scholar keeper Nattaruja Muthtanawech.

Nguyen Thi Thanh then doubled the lead in the 13th minute, while Thai international player Orathai Srimanee nailed the first of her three goals two minutes later.

Trinh Ngoc Hoa made sure that Thai Son Nam went into the break one up with the third goal coming in the 16 minute, while Asian Scholars were left to regroup and rethink their strategy for the second half.

A bad clash of the nippy Hoa broke Thai Son Nam's confidence, as Srimanee scored the second goal in the 24 minute.

She then completed her hat-trick in the 36th minute off power play, but it was not enough for them to secure full points. They will not have to wait and see what happens in the final round-robin match tomorrow.

In an earlier match, Felda United from Malaysia beat ACE FC of Myanmar 3-1 in the Bangkok Arena.

On the men's side, Viet Nam's Sanna Khanh Hoa FC kept their hopes alive for a place in the next round with an exhilarating 1-1 draw against tournament favourites Thaiport.

The Vietnamese side, who needed to avoid a defeat to make sure they had a fighting chance for a place in the final on November 29, were disciplined in their defence as they frustrated Thaiport's efforts for long periods.

Khong Dinh Hung ran in with the ball before slotting it under Thaiport keeper Kanison Phoopan, much to the chagrin of the few hundred fans on the stand.

With two minutes left, a well-timed cross from Pornmongkol Sursubseang allowed Marcos to slam in the goal for the equaliser.

In another match, Felda United paid the price of being overconfident when they were held to a 2-2 draw by MIC FC. — VNS
