HA NOI (VNS) — Ranked just fourth after the group round, Thailand displayed impressive fitness to win the International Women's Volleyball Tournament – VTV Cup for the first time on Saturday.
The team defeated China's Liaoning 25-22, 24-26, 27-25, 25-20 in the final match to lift the Cup.
Earlier, Thailand crushed Viet Nam 3-1 in the semi-final.
In the match for the third place, North Korea bested Viet Nam 3-1.
Six teams, including five foreign teams, competed in the round-robin format before four with the highest scores moved into the semi-finals.
The event's winner walked away with an award of US$10,000, while the first and second runners-up received $7,000 and $5,000, respectively. — VNS
