HA NOI (VNS) — Ambassador of Thailand to Viet Nam Anuson Chinvanno donated several items to the Viet Nam Museum of Ethnology (VNME) yesterday as a gift from Thailand's Ministry of Culture. They include masks, puppets, DVDs and books.
The masks were used in the Phi ta khon palanquin procession ceremony in Thailand's northeastern region of Isan. In this ceremony, people honour local spirits who protect them and pray for rain for the upcoming harvest.
"The gifts demonstrate that Southeast Asian embassies and regional cultural institutions support the museum," said director of the VNME Vo Quang Trong. "Such support will allow us to offer educational activities about Southeast Asia". — VNS
