HA NOI – Gymnastics champion Phan Thi Ha Thanh has been invited to take part in the two-day Art Challenge Cup in Zibo City,Vietnamese athlete commencing on April 3.

The Challenge Cup is an official event of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and brings together the world's strongest athletes, especially those who have won world titles.

The FIG said 24 teams will compete in Zibo, and Viet Nam will have the only Southeast Asian team.

Thanh will be the only Vietnamese athlete and will participate in the women's pommel event against nine rivals including Croatia's Tijana Tkalcec, Germany's Oksana Chusovitina, Slovakian Teja Belak and Jinnan Yao from China.

The FIG has also invited Vietnamese referee Nguyen Thi Cam Van to join the Cup officials. – VNS
