HA NOI (VNS)— Nguyen Thi That claimed her second stage victory in the Return to Dien Bien Cycling Tournament, yesterday.

Among the men, unknown Nguyen Tan Hoai from Domesco Dong Thap Pharmacy, took the first place.

That, of Hat Ngoc Troi An Giang, sprinted strongly in the last few metres to win the tournament's 109km second stage rally from Ha Noi to Hoa Binh Province, with a tim of 2:51:19.

Apart from getting the yellow jersey for the next stage, That pocketed five more points to lead in the green jersey category.

Nguyen Thi Dung, of Binh Duong Environment and Water Supply and Drainage, came second. The third place went to Pham Thi Thuy Lien of Co May Dong Thap.

In the men's 124km race, Hoai recorded a perfect solo when the peloton was 5km to the finish line. He clocked 2:37.38 to win the stage and take the yellow jersey.

His teammate Nguyen Truong Tai and Chau Hong Hau of Military Zone 7, came second and third, respectively.

Today, female riders will cycle a 110km distance from Moc Chau Town to Son La City while the men will cycle 172km from Mai Chau District to Son La City. — VNS
