HCM CITY – A new theatre dedicated to traditional Vietnamese music will open its doors next month in HCM City.
The 250-seat theatre, in the Labour Cultural Palace, will be named Non La (palm-leaf conical hat).
The theatre's seats will be made from bamboo, in keeping with the name, to bring an "authentic Vietnamese feeling," said the theatre's manager Huynh Anh Tuan.
Performances will begin at 8.35pm.
Vietnamese folk music, such as ca tru (ceremonial singing), cheo (traditional opera), hat boi (traditional drama), nha nhac cung dinh (court music), will be staged.
In addition, the ancient dance Luc Cung Hoa Dang, that was once performed at the Hue imperial court, and the lion dance Lan Mau Xuat Lan Nhi will be performed. – VNS
