Thirteen teams contest World Shuttlecock Championships


Up to 13 teams from around the world will compete in the seventh World Shuttlecock Championship set to begin on September 2 in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.

DONG THAP (VNS) —Up to 13 teams from around the world will compete in the seventh World Shuttlecock Championship set to begin on September 2 in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.

About 110 athletes from Austria, China, Chinese Taipei, France, Finland, India, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Hong Kong, Macau and hosts Viet Nam will compete in individual and team events at the province's sports centre.

This is the first time the championship has been organised in Viet Nam. During the six previous editions of the tournament, which took place in Hungary in 2000 and 2007, China in 2001, 2005 and 2010 and Germany in 2002, Viet Nam were the overall winner.

The tournament will finish on September 5. — VNS
