HA NOI (VNS)— Bui Minh Thuy won the fourth stage of the HCM City Cycling Cup yesterday.
Thuy, from ADC-Vinh Long Television, clocked a top speed of 42.293kmph during the 199km stage from Vinh City to Dong Hoi City. He completed the event in 4:43.44.
Huynh Thanh Tung of Military Zone 7 and his teammate Tran Van Quyen finished second and third, respectively.
Although Tran Nguyen Minh Tri didn't come first in this stage, he still held onto the yellow jersey (best overall time) after four stages with a total time of 12:34.41.
Young cyclist Tran Thanh Dien of the Sai Gon Plant Protection was just behind Tri, finishing second with a total time of 12:34.46. Third place went to Tung of Military Zone 7, 12:34.51.
Tung continued to wear the green jersey as best sprinter with 43 points.
In the team rankings, the Sai Gon Plant Protection took the lead with a combined time of 37:44.39, followed by the Dong Thap Raflis Trivialis and Military Zone 7.
Today, racers will compete in the fifth 183km-stage from Dong Hoi City to Hue City.
The tournament will take place over a gruelling 1,935km with the participation of 84 cyclists competing in 16 stages.
The last leg of the race will conclude in HCM City in time to celebrate the anniversary of the country liberation on April 30. — VNS
