HA NOI (VNS)—Nguyen Dinh Toan and Nguyen Minh Tu failed to defend second place at the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Bali.
The silver medallist dropped to third place in the mixed pair freestyle event with only 7.43 points on Saturday.
The three-time world champions ranked behind Chinese Taipei and (7.60 points) and China (7.52 points).
Teammates Nguyen Quoc Minh and Nguyen Thi Huyen Dieu came third in the mixed pair Under-29 category.
Ngo Thi Thuy Dung took out bronze in the female freestyle class.
After three days of competitions, Viet Nam ranked six with one gold, two silvers and five bronzes.
South Korea, the US and the Philippines are leading the medal tally.
Viet Nam have set a target of winning at least 2 gold medals at the championships.
The final day will see the squad compete in four events to defend their title at the female mixed team freestyle pool. — VNS
