HA NOI (VNS)– A week-long festival highlighting the culture of Toulouse will be held in downtown Ha Noi this Friday to mark the 40th anniversary of Viet Nam-France diplomatic ties.

The event also symbolises the close ties established in 1996 between the two countries' cities.

"Toulouse Cultural Week" is an opportunity for Hanoians to observe unique art performances by Toulouse artists while getting up close and personal with French culture.

The week will feature activities including music shows, film screenings, concerts and exhibitions.

The highlight will be an opening ceremony classical music performance on Friday evening by the prestigious Les Hanches Hantees Clarinet Quartet at the Central Sector of Thang Long Imperial Complex, 19C Hoang Dieu Street.

Later, a show from flamenco guitar trio Sandoval will take place at the theatre of Ha Noi Arts College, 7 Hai Ba Trung Street at 8pm on October 7.

La Face Cachee des Sous Bois jazz band will also perform live on stage at 16 Le Thai To Street from 8pm on October 8. The Toulouse-born group are among the most popular bands in southern France and have toured throughout Europe. Saxophonist Ferdinand Doumerc performed in Ha Noi in October 2010.

In addition, a movie screening and concert will be organised at the Ha Noi Arts College from 2pm this Saturday.

Meanwhile, cartoon Les As de la Jungle (The Jungle Bunch) by directors David Alaux and Eric Tosti will be screened at 8.30am, this Saturday and Sunday at Kim Dong Cinema, 19 Hang Bai Street.

The cartoon has been screened in 150 countries and won various prizes including the Kidscreen Award 2013 and Emmy Kids Award 2013 for cartoon category.

Finally, an exhibition featuring water's relationship with humans and society will open on October 9, at the Central Sector of Thang Long Imperial Complex, 19C Hoang Dieu Street. The exhibition has attracted 113,000 visitors since opening in France last February. – VNS
