HA NOI - The V-League organisers have found a sponsor just days ahead of the start of the tournament.
Toyota Motor Viet Nam (TMV) and the Viet Nam Professional Football Company (VPF) yesterday signed a one-year contract to sponsor the national premier league, which will begin this Sunday nationwide.
The tournament will be called Toyota V-League 1-2015 under the new sponsorship.
"With the support of Toyota Motor Viet Nam, VPF and the organising board, we will try our best to contribute to the season with the spirit of fair play, high quality and competitiveness," VPF General Director Pham Ngoc Vien shared at a press briefing in Ha Noi.
"Toyota has been working in Viet Nam for nearly 20 years. We believe that as the main sponsor, Toyota will lend a helping hand to push the national football team to a higher level," disclosed TMV President Yoshihisa Maruta through an interpreter.
"We also hope that our co-operation with J. League, which aims to extend assistance by sending their experts to work with Viet Nam's football organisation and management, will provide us with a better future. Local audiences will enjoy all matches, which will be fair and healthy," he shared. He also added that TMV will continue to discuss their plans for the succeeding years with VPF.
Toyota has backed different sports activities in Viet Nam for years.
This year saw a successful Toyota Mekong Cup organised for the first time in HCM City, which Maruta said would be extended to accommodate foreign teams next year. – VNS
