Traditional operas to be staged


Three famous Vietnamese cheo (traditional opera) plays will be staged in September as part of an art tour named Tieng Trong Cheo (The Sound of Cheo Drum), created by the project Toi Xe Dich (I Move) – a cultural media project aimed at encouraging young people to understand and be more involved with traditional art forms.

HA NOI — Three famous Vietnamese cheo (traditional opera) plays will be staged in September as part of an art tour named Tieng Trong Cheo (The Sound of Cheo Drum), created by the project Toi Xe Dich (I Move) – a cultural media project aimed at encouraging young people to understand and be more involved with traditional art forms.

The tour will open with the performance of the play Quan Am Thi Kinh on Saturday, September 5. The play will be staged at the Thap Communal House in Dich Vong, Cau Giay District.

The Luu Binh Duong Le drama will be presented on September 12 at Tu Lien Communal House on Au Co Street, Tay Ho District, while the Kim Nham play will be performed at Xuan Tao Communal House in Xuan Dinh, North Tu Liem District.

The performances are non-profitable event and are being supported by community funds from the participants. Performers are artists from the Viet Nam Cheo Theatre.
