HANOI  (VNS) — Nguyen Bich Tram of HCM City beat Doan Thi Ngoc Le of Ha Noi 7-2 in Hai Phong yesterday to win gold in the women's 9-ball pool individual event of the ongoing National Sports Games.

The event is part of the ongoing National Sports Games.

In weightlifting, Lam Thi Bich of Hai Phong took gold in the women's 58kg category with a total lift of 203kg.

Earlier, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai of Ha Noi won the event in the women's 63kg class, Thanh Hoa's Pham Tuan Anh triumphed in the men's 69kg class, and Nguyen Hong Ngoc of HCM City topped the men's 77kg category, setting a national record with a lift of 318kg.

In fencing, Hai Phong overcame Ha Noi 45-42 in the men's team sabre final, but the capital city's women beat Binh Phuoc 45-30 to win gold.

Nine gold medals were awarded to track-and-field athletes yesterday, with the Military, Ha Noi and Thanh Hoa teams taking two each and HCM City, An Giang and Nam Dinh getting one each.

Ha Noi has been stable at the top of the rankings table with 132 medals. HCM City are second with 85, followed by Military with 45. — VNS
