The annual festival dedicated to Tran kings in Hung Ha District in the
northern province of Thai Binh has just been accorded recognition as
national intangible cultural heritage.
HA NOI (VNS)— The annual festival dedicated to Tran kings in Hung Ha District in the northern province of Thai Binh has just been accorded recognition as national intangible cultural heritage.
The culture ministry of has recognised the festival. It takes place every year at the site of temples and tombs of Tran kings, located in Tien Duc Commune of Hung Ha District, between the 13th and 18th of the first lunar month. This year the festival falls between February 12 and 17.
The Tran dynasty (1225-1400) proved to be a prosperous dynasty, which successfully fought against northern invaders and developed socio-economic life as well as culture.
The same festival is also held at the Tran temple complex in the neighbouring province of Nam Dinh between the 13th and 15th of the first lunar month.
While Thai Binh is considered to be the birthplace of the Tran kings, Nam Dinh was their first residential area. — VNS
