HA NOI (VNS) — Vu Thi Trang of Viet Nam had a walk over into the third round of the Badminton World Federation World Championships in Denmark yesterday.
Her Japanese rival Eriko Hirose, seeded No 15 in the women's singles event, withdrew.
It was a turning point for not only Trang but also Vietnamese women's badminton, as Trang's third round was the country's best result so far.
She will next play the winner of the match between Hong Kong's Pui Yin Yip and No 2 Shixian Wang of China.
Another Vietnamese representative Nguyen Tien Minh will play Spaniard Pablo Abian in the second round match at Ballerup Super Arena in Copenhagen late today.
