HCM CITY (VNS) — Dao Minh Trang made history as the first Vietnamese girl to enter a semi-final match of the International Tennis Federation's Junior Circuit in HCM City.
Trang yesterday defeated Indonesian Joleta Budiman 6-3, 7-5 in the girls' category in a quarter-final match.
She will next play No 3 seed Mimi Levine of the US, who won 6-3, 6-2 over another Indonesian Novela Rezha Millenia Putri.
Trang is now the only representative of the hosts after she and her partner were eliminated in the girls' doubles event later in the day.
Trang, pairing with Si Boi Ngoc, lost 1-6, 1-6 to Thai sisters Chatmanee Junkeaw and Napawee Junkeaw in the semi-finals. — VNS
