HA NOI (VNS) — Designer Nguyen Cong Tri will launch his latest haute couture collection titled "The Purity of Water" at a show to be held in Vicenza, Italy, from May 8 to 11.

The show "Origin – Passion – Belief" will bring together 100 of the world's well-known contemporary designers who have been selected from about 15,000 candidates.

These haute couture designers are considered to be pioneers who contribute to the development and integration of the fashion industry in their countries.

On the website of the organising committee, Tri is described as a successful Vietnamese designer who combines traditional ideas with modern fashion. Last year, he became the first designer in Viet Nam to open a fashion gallery for haute couture products.

The HCM City-based designer first made an impact in the world of Vietnamese design in 2000 when he won the first prize at Vietnam's Grand Prix, with his Green Leaves collection.

Following this, he began to work with singers and celebrities in Viet Nam, styling their photo-shoots and designing signature looks. As this venture grew, he launched the ready-to-wear brand Kin by Cong Tri in 2009, and his menswear line KinConcept in 2011.

The exhibition is being organised by the Fiera Di Vicenza company and the well-known contemporary fashion website, "Not Just A Label". This is one of the major fashion events in Italy and also an opportunity for haute couture designers to meet and exchange ideas.

It aims to promote diverse skills, know-how, creativity and experiences in the manufacturing and processing of different materials and styles.

At the fashion event, Tri will have a chance to enter a network of highly skilled professionals, high-end retailers and luxury stores. — VNS
