HCM CITY (VNS)—Do Tuan Anh of the Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap 1 team took the first stage win at the Mekong Delta Cycling Tournament yesterday from HCM City to Ben Tre City.

Anh completed the 70km stage with a time of 1hr 30.07min, a fraction ahead of Ivan Dominguez from TRU Cycling-Tamouth Phu My and Tran Van Quyen of Eximbank HCM City.

He also pocketed 25 points to put on the green jersey. Dominguez was second with 22 and Nguyen Thanh Tam of An Giang Plant Protection third on 18.

Dong Thap 1 clinched the spot as the leading team as all members finished the race with a total time of 4:30.21. Close behind are Eximbank and An Giang.

The second stage today will see cyclists racing from Tra Vinh City to Cao Lanh City in Dong Thap Province across a 123km-long stage.

The annual Mekong Delta event has attracted 105 participants.

It will conclude on August 20. — VNS
